Every Child Matters

Every Child Matters is a government initiative which aims to facilitate the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19. The strategy focuses on bringing together services to support children and families. It sets out five major outcomes for children:

  • being healthy;
  • staying safe;
  • enjoying and achieving;
  • making a positive contribution;
  • economic well being;

The Fledgelings Preschool sets out to safeguard and ensure the welfare of all of our children. Our committed staff seek to develop and equip all our children with the skills necessary to become independent and healthy individuals.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS is based around four themes:

  1. A Unique Child
    Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
  2. Positive Relationships
    Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
  3. Enabling Environments
    The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.
  4. Learning and Development
    Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.

We provide a variety of resources and activities to help the children develop in all aspects. Through observation, assessment and planning we aim to provide a stimulating environment for all children as staff contribute to planning from each child's Development Matters' records.
